How did you talk to your kids about sex?

I was reading this article about it today and I suddenly got nervous! My parents never talked to me about sex or periods or anything, although I learned it well enough on my own. My kids are under 3, so it will be awhile, but I just wanted to hear what other people did, when they talked to their kids and how they did it. Like I said, I never did get "the talk" so I have nothing to model after.

Really, don't worry too much about it. You won't have to lay any groundwork or explain anything. When they are ready for the talk, they'll know the basics. Just talk to them openly and honestly. If there's something that you feel is innappropriate for them at their age, then there is nothing wrong with telling them that it's innappropriate... they'll expect it and be receptive. Most importantly by talking to them, they will know they can come and talk to you. Don't drag it out to where it's uncomfortable. If they only talk for 30 seconds, great. Your words will stick with them for a whole lot longer and they'll be back. If you sit them in a chair and drill them for an hour, that might be the last time you get that chance to talk. You'll do fine :)
